Where Character Leads Learning

The Founding Story

The Early 1980
A Vision Takes Shape

In the early 1980s, Lt. Col. C.S. Bawa (Retd.) dreamt of building a school where discipline met discovery – a place that would shape not only minds but character. After years of serving in the Indian Army and fighting in multiple wars, he had witnessed firsthand the power of discipline, courage, and values in transforming individuals.

But the Colonel knew he couldn’t do it alone. By his side stood Mrs. Gurjit Bawa, an English educator with a rare blend of intellect and grace. Where the Colonel brought structure and discipline, Mrs. Bawa brought warmth and pedagogical wisdom. Together, they envisioned a school that would merge the best of both worlds.

Founding Story
1984
The Bell Rings for the First Time

In 1984, Golden Bells Public School was born – first in Chandigarh, before expanding to Mohali. The name itself carried deep meaning, bells symbolizing the light of knowledge and the value of character.

The school was built on a simple yet profound belief: that education should awaken the spirit as much as it informs the intellect. From the very beginning, Golden Bells was different – it wasn’t just about learning facts, it was about building individuals who would carry values, empathy, and courage into the world.

From Vision to Legacy

What started as a modest initiative has grown into one of Mohali’s most respected CBSE schools. Over the decades, Golden Bells has stayed true to its founding principles while evolving with the times.

The infrastructure has expanded, technology has become integrated, but the core philosophy remains unchanged. Thousands of students have walked through these halls, each carrying forward the lessons they learned here lessons that shaped who they became: integrity, empathy, resilience, and service.
